Has reality TV gone too far?

Many people know about the reality TV show Take Me Out the basics of the show is Paddy McGuiness setting up dates and sending the lucky couple off to the Island of Fernandos.

Damion Merry was one of the lads to come down the ‘love lift’ and present himself to 30 single ladies, who I believe gave him a ridiculously hard time.

(The rumours about him dating Jodie Marsh which were stated on the show, I believe have now proved to be true, which was the first thing that needed to be cleared up.)

As the show progressed Damion was complete and utter banter, and unlike the lads previous actually made me laugh without having to put on a ridiculous outfit.

The girls continued to give him a hard time and to be honest when he finally got a date, it ended disastrously. In my personal opinion I would have thought it would have been a great date, the guy is just hilarious.

But it isn’t that which has given me a sickening feeling. Since the show Damion has received death threats including to his family, poisoned dog treats and is not allowed to appear on This Morning to defend himself.

Personally, I believe if an innocent (and hilarious) lad can’t have a bit of banter on what is meant to be a game show, of which many of the girls tend to be staying for the air time, rather than actually receiving a date then there is something incredibly wrong with our society.

Geordie Shore

This programme is TV gold.

I’ve been watching it from the beginning and took it upon myself to watch Jersey Shore Season 3 aswell.

On This Morning there was a debate on whether the show is trashy or not. But at the end of the day, Denise who has been a long running ‘agony aunt’ on the show was calling it vile and disgusting, and I have a bit of a problem with this. First of all the show is aimed at ages 16-24 so the age range is limited to people who would be going out drinking and having a good time. Second of all its not specifically based on the people Newcastle, its called ‘Geordie Shore’ because its  in Newcastle, yes, most of the people in there are Geordie’s but I believe Holly is from Middleborough and a couple of the others are from around the North East but not necessarily within Newcastle.

My point is, if you don’t like it, don’t watch it and stop ruining the entertainment for everyone else.

So my message for today is…

Keep Calm & Stay Reem.

Also Geordie Shore is on tonight which gets me to the point of reality TV shows, I watch way too many of them, either that, or there is too man for me to watch, for example I watch:

The Only Way Is Essex

Geordie Shore

Jersey Shore

Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

Big Brother

And you could probably count some of the ‘talent’ shows as reality TV nowadays with the amount of drama that goes on in them !! You only have to look at the latest public display of hatred Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell have going on since this whole X-Factor judge saga kicked off in America.

I cant help the fact that I watch these shows, although some people may find it ridiculous and stupid and dont watch it, I find it ridiculous and stupid, which is the reason why I watch it.

Take TOWIE for example, this show is full of extortionately rich people who are really quite stupid at times, but come out with the most amazing quotes ever, i.e Im looking reem, you know look reem, smell reem, be reem.

Thankyou Joey Essex for that one.

Then there is Made In Chelsea on the other hand of which I hate, its full fo exactly the same sort of people (except their not stupid) but they are so snobbish and know they are very much ‘upper class’ I find it irritating and therefore cannot watch it.

Geordie Shore & Jersey Shore are both brilliant, I only started watching Jersey Shore when Geordie Shore came out because I wanted to see the content and what it was all about as I was becoming engrossed in it, so I watched Season 3 of Jersey Shore so I knew I would be up to date for the next one, and I must say Snooki is hilarious.

Everyone knows Big Brother which has become worldwide, they couldnt even keep it cancelled for a year, they’re bringing it back already !! And Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, is just hilarious, the celebrities that put themselves through that have got to be seriously fame hungry.

But all in all, I do love these shows, completely/partially fake, eitherway they are definetley my form of entertainment.

P.S This doesnt mean Im stupid or thick or uneducated, Im at university so anyone who thinks people who watch these shows have no concept of education or intelligence, think again.
